All detainees from immigration facility ‘Alligator Alcatraz’ have been transferred, DHS says

The AP reports that the Department of Homeland Security has moved all detainees out of “Alligator Alcatraz,” the Everglades immigration detention center, citing hurricane-season safety. The Workers Circle’s Arianne Betancourt, a community advocate who has spent months connecting detainees with pro bono attorneys, pushed back on that explanation. She noted the facility opened in the middle of hurricane season last year.
