ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE

The TASC Group is growing quickly and we’re looking for an account executive that thrives on organization and collaboration. The Account Executive (AE) plays a lead role in client accounts managing day-to-day client activities, projects and teams at a tactical level. The AE has a strong understanding of media relations and possesses strong written and verbal communication and time management.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

MANAGEMENT

  • Manage 2-3 accounts or act as key member of large accounts
  • Effectively manage account team members, including proper delegation of work • Provide guidance to and be a mentor for junior staff and interns
  • Manage multiple projects by anticipating challenges and ensuring adherence to deadlines

MEDIA RELATIONS

  • Manage media relations including creating and executing outreach plans, message development, management of events, media training of spokespersons and growth of contact network
  • Demonstrate creative thinking when developing pitches for clients and a keen understanding of the media landscape
  • Secure consistent and quality placements on a regular basis in top-tier print publications, in online news sources and on broadcast media
  • Establish strong relationships with relevant media to generate awareness of client’s products, services, thought leadership or activities
  • Develop effective press materials such as pitches, press releases, op-ed articles, or case studies media kits

STRATEGY

  • Create and support on development of public relations and communications plans that meet client objectives

CLIENT RELATIONS

  • Serve as a day-to-day client liaison and establish successful, productive relationships with client contacts
  • Provide client service support including attending meetings, meeting deadlines and troubleshooting issues
  • Develop weekly agendas, call recaps and media reports for client accounts SOCIAL MEDIA
  • Support on creation and implementation of social media campaigns for clients

JUNIOR ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE

We’re seeking a Junior Account Executive (JAE) to join our team. The JAE plays a critical role in client accounts, supporting all day-to-day client activities, projects and teams at a tactical level with direction from senior leadership.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

MEDIA RELATIONS

  • Good understanding of media relations and best practices re: media management
  • Support account executives/SAEs and senior management on execution of strategic outreach plans for client campaigns or events
  • Conduct thorough media research and create customized media lists for client campaigns
  • Craft effective pitches
  • Secure quality media placements with guidance and strategic direction from senior staff
  • Develop and grow media contact network
  • Prepare press materials such as press releases & media kits

CLIENT RELATIONS

  • Play a critical supporting role on 3 – 5 client accounts
  • Work under AEs/SAEs or senior management to liaise with clients when appropriate via email and in phone or in-person meetings

A typical day with The TASC Group may include writing op-eds for placement in national flagship publications to rehabilitate a thought leader’s reputation, developing the media outreach strategy to build brand equity for a global nonprofit or working closely with a top-tier enterprise reporter as they build out a longform feature profile of your client. We are at the juncture of communications, non-profit advocacy and progressive politics and are seeking interns who want to learn and grow with our firm.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
  • Daily sweep for client- and industry-related news items
  • Media research
  • Creation and development of media target lists
  • Tracking of client hits
  • Proofreading of internal and external documents
  • Collaboration in drafting and developing press releases and media advisories
  • Assisting team to manage red carpets (when applicable)
  • Basic administrative duties, including answering phones, monitoring email, etc.
BASIC CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
  • Completed at least 32 credits
  • Maintains a 3.5 GPA or above
  • Communications/Journalism/Public Relations/Social Justice/Political Science Major/Minor preferable
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office systems
  • Social media expertise a plus
  • Knowledge/experience in website building with WordPress a plus
